turn off your automatic windows updateThis is a featured page

The MicrosoftWindows Automatic Updates service is aimed to automatically update your computer with the latest functionality updates, security patches and bug fixesforWindows, Office and other Microsoft applications. Every time an update is installed,Automatic Updates will prompt you to restart your system. As you can see below there are two options: Restart Now or Restart Later. If you choose the latter, you will be prompted to restart your system every 10 minutes!!

Ifyou areall for Automatic Updates, but don’t want to see the annoying message every 10 minutes, proceed as following:
  • Go to Start || Run
  • Type gpedit.msc (This will open the Windows Group Policy editor)
  • Navigate to the folder Local Computer Policy || Computer Configuration || Administrative Templates || Windows Components || Windows Update
  • Now you have two options:
(1) Right Click No auto restart for scheduled Automatic Updatesinstallations, click Properties andcheck Enabled. This setting actually specifythat to complete a scheduled installation, Automatic Updates will wait for the computer to be restarted by any user who is logged on, instead of causing the computer to restart automatically. (2) Right click Re-prompt for restart with scheduled installations, click Properties andcheck enabled. Specify a long time interval (example:720 minutes)for restarting your system following an Automatic Update.
